For the first time in many years, Mont Pleasant Middle School presented a musical production on the school's stage.  "Shrek Jr., The Musical,"  was a show that resulted from many hours of hard work. By all accounts, it was worth it.  The students were exposed to a new experience and the nearly 280 audience members that attended, enjoyed the show.

"Mont Pleasant Productions" was established this school year, after a group of teachers came together and decided that students would benefit from an enriching after-school experience that would expose them to the performing arts. 

They jumped right in and got the ball rolling.  Students, first, voted on a musical.  Auditions were held.  The cast was determined.  

As rehearsals began, the stage crew worked hard creating scenery for the set.

The students presented two shows, one during the day for the students, and a second one in the evening, for parents.  They received favorable feedback from both audiences and the school staff.

The students enjoyed the experience so much that they are already talking about which musical they would like to produce next year.  

Many hope that this production is the start of a tradition that will grow with time and continue to expose students to the benefits of participating in the performing arts.
